Theme: Daily Scripture
“And the Lord hath not given you a heart to understand, and eyes to see, and ears that may hear, unto this present day.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Deuteronomy 29:4. Hear these words again: “And the Lord hath not given you a heart to understand, and eyes to see, and ears that may hear, unto this present day.”
Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Deuteronomy 29:4. As I listen to “And the Lord hath not given you a heart to understand, and eyes to see, and ears…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
