Theme: Wisdom

PeaceWisdom

And he said to man: Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.

Job 28:28

Reflection for Today

Let Job 28:28 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And he said to man: Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.”

Job belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. A wise Catholic heart listens twice: once to Scripture, and once to the quiet prompting of conscience formed by the Church.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Job 28:28 I hear, “And he said to man: Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
