Theme: Daily Scripture
“Bring me of thy hunting, and make me meats that I may eat, and bless thee in the sight of the Lord, before I die.”
Reflection for Today
Let Genesis 27:7 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Bring me of thy hunting, and make me meats that I may eat, and bless thee in the sight of the Lord, before I die.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Genesis is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Genesis 27:7 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Genesis 27:7. You said, “Bring me of thy hunting, and make me meats that I may eat, and bless thee in the…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
