Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Wednesday, May 2, 2029, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Work & Service

Work & Service

And he built there an altar: and called upon the name of the Lord, and pitched his tent; and commanded his servants to dig a well.

Genesis 26:25

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Genesis 26:25: “And he built there an altar: and called upon the name of the Lord, and pitched his tent; and commanded his servants to dig a well.”

Genesis is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.

Today's invitation under the theme of Work & Service is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Genesis 26:25 I hear, “And he built there an altar: and called upon the name of the Lord, and pitched his…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
