Theme: Daily Scripture
“Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry and fed thee: thirsty and gave thee drink?”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Matthew 25:37: “Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry and fed thee: thirsty and gave thee drink?”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Matthew 25:37. You said, “Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry and fed…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
