Theme: Daily Scripture
“And Moses said to the judges of Israel: Let every man kill his neighbours, that have been initiated to Beelphegor.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Numbers 25:5. Hear these words again: “And Moses said to the judges of Israel: Let every man kill his neighbours, that have been initiated to Beelphegor.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Numbers is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Numbers 25:5. You said, “And Moses said to the judges of Israel: Let every man kill his neighbours, that have…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
