Theme: Daily Scripture
“With desolation shall the earth be laid waste, and it shall be utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Isaiah 24:3. Hear these words again: “With desolation shall the earth be laid waste, and it shall be utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Isaiah 24:3, let “With desolation shall the earth be laid waste, and it shall be utterly spoiled: for…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
