Theme: Daily Scripture
“Out of the cities they have made men to groan, and the soul of the wounded hath cried out, and God doth not suffer it to pass unrevenged.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Job 24:12: “Out of the cities they have made men to groan, and the soul of the wounded hath cried out, and God doth not suffer it to pass unrevenged.”
Job belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Job 24:12 remain. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Job 24:12. As I listen to “Out of the cities they have made men to groan, and the soul of the wounded hath…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
