Reflection for Today
Let Isaiah 22:17 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Behold the Lord will cause thee to be carried away, as a cock is carried away, and he will lift thee up as a garment.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Isaiah 22:17. As I listen to “Behold the Lord will cause thee to be carried away, as a cock is carried away, and…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
