Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Deuteronomy 20:4: “Because the Lord your God is in the midst of you, and will fight for you against your enemies, to deliver you from danger.”
Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
Today's invitation under the theme of Protection is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Deuteronomy 20:4 close to me. Let “Because the Lord your God is in the midst of you, and will fight for you against…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
