Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Numbers 20:13: “This is the Water of contradiction, where the children of Israel strove with words against the Lord, and he was sanctified in them.”
Numbers is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.

Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Numbers 20:13 close to me. Let “This is the Water of contradiction, where the children of Israel strove with words…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
