Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Kings 19:12

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, December 3, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Creation

And after the earthquake, a fire: but the Lord is not in the fire. And after the fire, a whistling of a gentle air.

1 Kings 19:12

Reflection for Today

Pause with 1 Kings 19:12. Hear these words again: “And after the earthquake, a fire: but the Lord is not in the fire. And after the fire, a whistling of a gentle air.”

1 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 1 Kings 19:12, let “And after the earthquake, a fire: but the Lord is not in the fire. And after the…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
