2 Samuel 19:30

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us 2 Samuel 19:30: “And Miphiboseth answered the king: Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is returned peaceably into his house.”

Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high. 2 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep 2 Samuel 19:30 close to me. Let “And Miphiboseth answered the king: Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
