2 Chronicles 18:26

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us 2 Chronicles 18:26: “And say: Thus saith the king: Put this fellow in prison, and give him bread and water in a small quantity till I return in peace.”

Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high. 2 Chronicles is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through 2 Chronicles 18:26. You said, “And say: Thus saith the king: Put this fellow in prison, and give him bread and…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
