Catholic Verse of the Day

Deuteronomy 18:5

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, November 2, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

For the Lord thy God hath chosen him of all thy tribes, to stand and to minister to the name of the Lord, him and his sons for ever.

Deuteronomy 18:5

Reflection for Today

Pause with Deuteronomy 18:5. Hear these words again: “For the Lord thy God hath chosen him of all thy tribes, to stand and to minister to the name of the Lord, him and his sons for ever.”

Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Deuteronomy 18:5. As I listen to “For the Lord thy God hath chosen him of all thy tribes, to stand and to minister to…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
