Theme: Daily Scripture
“And bringeth it not to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, that it may be offered to the Lord, shall perish from among his people.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Leviticus 17:9. Hear these words again: “And bringeth it not to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, that it may be offered to the Lord, shall perish from among his people.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Leviticus is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Leviticus 17:9 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Leviticus 17:9. You said, “And bringeth it not to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, that it may be…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
