“But they going forth preached every where: the Lord working withal, and confirming the word with signs that followed. ”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Mark 16:20: “But they going forth preached every where: the Lord working withal, and confirming the word with signs that followed.”
Mark does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Mark 16:20 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Mark 16:20, let “But they going forth preached every where: the Lord working withal, and confirming…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
