Theme: Joy
“Rejoice not in ungodly children, if they be multiplied: neither be delighted in them, if the fear of God be not with them.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Sirach 16:1: “Rejoice not in ungodly children, if they be multiplied: neither be delighted in them, if the fear of God be not with them.”
Sirach belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Sirach 16:1 I hear, “Rejoice not in ungodly children, if they be multiplied: neither be delighted in…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
