Psalms 16:1

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, September 17, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Prayer

Prayer

The prayer of David. Hear, O Lord, my justice: attend to my supplication. Give ear unto my prayer, which proceedeth not from deceitful lips.

Psalms 16:1

Reflection for Today

Let Psalms 16:1 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “The prayer of David. Hear, O Lord, my justice: attend to my supplication. Give ear unto my prayer, which proceedeth not from deceitful lips.”

We often wait to feel holy before we pray. Scripture gently reverses that: we pray, and holiness begins to find us. The Psalms have given voice to every mood of the believer: praise, tears, trust, and longing. What Israel prayed, the Church still sings.

Today's invitation under the theme of Prayer is simple and serious. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.

Prayer

Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Psalms 16:1 close to me. Let “The prayer of David. Hear, O Lord, my justice: attend to my supplication. Give ear…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
