Theme: Work & Service
“And he answered her: If I shall be bound with new ropes, that were never in work, I shall be weak and like other men.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Judges 16:11: “And he answered her: If I shall be bound with new ropes, that were never in work, I shall be weak and like other men.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Judges is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
Today's invitation under the theme of Work & Service is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Judges 16:11, let “And he answered her: If I shall be bound with new ropes, that were never in work, I…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
