She answered: I saw thee, my lord, as an angel of God, and my heart was troubled for fear of thy majesty.

Esther 15:16

Reflection for Today

Let Esther 15:16 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “She answered: I saw thee, my lord, as an angel of God, and my heart was troubled for fear of thy majesty.”

Esther, received in the Catholic canon, shows courage, fidelity, and providence when God's people are tested. Many of us carry quiet fear into work, family, and prayer. This verse does not shame that fear. It invites us to bring it into the light of God.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Esther 15:16 remain. Name your loudest fear before God without editing it. Then ask for the peace of Christ, not the peace of perfect control.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Esther 15:16, let “She answered: I saw thee, my lord, as an angel of God, and my heart was troubled for…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
