Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, August 6, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Gratitude

And when Samuel was come to Saul, Saul said to him: Blessed be thou of the Lord, I have fulfilled the word of the Lord.

1 Samuel 15:13

Reflection for Today

Pause with 1 Samuel 15:13. Hear these words again: “And when Samuel was come to Saul, Saul said to him: Blessed be thou of the Lord, I have fulfilled the word of the Lord.”

The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. 1 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 1 Samuel 15:13 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 1 Samuel 15:13 I hear, “And when Samuel was come to Saul, Saul said to him: Blessed be thou of the Lord, I…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
