And thence they sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been delivered to the grace of God, unto the work which they accomplished.

Acts 14:25

Reflection for Today

Let Acts 14:25 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And thence they sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been delivered to the grace of God, unto the work which they accomplished.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. The Acts of the Apostles remind us that the Church is not a museum of holy memories. It is a living community moved by the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning.

Today's invitation under the theme of Protection is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Acts 14:25 I hear, “And thence they sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been delivered to the grace…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
