Theme: Daily Scripture
“And when they were at table and eating, Jesus saith: Amen I say to you, one of you that eateth with me shall betray me.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Mark 14:18. Hear these words again: “And when they were at table and eating, Jesus saith: Amen I say to you, one of you that eateth with me shall betray me.”
Mark does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Mark 14:18 remain. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Mark 14:18 I hear, “And when they were at table and eating, Jesus saith: Amen I say to you, one of you…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
