Theme: Strength
“And the governors of Juda shall say in their heart: Let the inhabitants of Jerusalem be strengthened for me in the Lord of hosts, their God.”
Reflection for Today
Let Zechariah 12:5 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And the governors of Juda shall say in their heart: Let the inhabitants of Jerusalem be strengthened for me in the Lord of hosts, their God.”
In Zechariah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. God's strength does not always remove the weight. Sometimes it teaches us how to carry it without losing charity.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Zechariah 12:5. As I listen to “And the governors of Juda shall say in their heart: Let the inhabitants of Jerusalem…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
