Theme: Gratitude
“And you shall say in that day: Praise ye the Lord, and call upon his name: make his works known among the people: remember that his name is high.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Isaiah 12:4. Hear these words again: “And you shall say in that day: Praise ye the Lord, and call upon his name: make his works known among the people: remember that his name is high.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Isaiah 12:4. You said, “And you shall say in that day: Praise ye the Lord, and call upon his name: make his…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
