Theme: Faith
“By faith he celebrated the pasch and the shedding of the blood: that he who destroyed the firstborn might not touch them.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Hebrews 11:28: “By faith he celebrated the pasch and the shedding of the blood: that he who destroyed the firstborn might not touch them.”
Hebrews comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Faith is not pretending we have no questions. It is trusting Christ enough to keep walking while the answers are still unfinished.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Hebrews 11:28 remain. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Hebrews 11:28 I hear, “By faith he celebrated the pasch and the shedding of the blood: that he who…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
