Theme: Daily Scripture
“But let two parts of you all that go forth on the sabbath, keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us 2 Kings 11:7: “But let two parts of you all that go forth on the sabbath, keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.”
2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 2 Kings 11:7, let “But let two parts of you all that go forth on the sabbath, keep the watch of the…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
