Theme: Daily Scripture
“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the latter season, and the Lord will make snows, and will give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Zechariah 10:1: “Ask ye of the Lord rain in the latter season, and the Lord will make snows, and will give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.”
In Zechariah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Zechariah 10:1 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Zechariah 10:1, let “Ask ye of the Lord rain in the latter season, and the Lord will make snows, and will…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
