Theme: Daily Scripture
“And of Israel, of the sons of Pharos, Remeia, and Jezia, and Melchia, and Miamin, and Eliezer, and Melchia, and Banea.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Ezra 10:25. Hear these words again: “And of Israel, of the sons of Pharos, Remeia, and Jezia, and Melchia, and Miamin, and Eliezer, and Melchia, and Banea.”
Ezra is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Ezra 10:25. As I listen to “And of Israel, of the sons of Pharos, Remeia, and Jezia, and Melchia, and Miamin,…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
