Pause with Revelation 9:11. Hear these words again: “A king, the angel of the bottomless pit (whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek Apollyon, in Latin Exterminans).”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Revelation is often treated as a puzzle of fear. Catholic faith reads it as a book of worship and hope: the Lamb reigns, and history is not abandoned.
