“The Lord shall be known when he executeth judgments: the sinner hath been caught in the works of his own hands.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Psalms 9:17: “The Lord shall be known when he executeth judgments: the sinner hath been caught in the works of his own hands.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. The Psalms have given voice to every mood of the believer: praise, tears, trust, and longing. What Israel prayed, the Church still sings.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Psalms 9:17, let “The Lord shall be known when he executeth judgments: the sinner hath been caught in…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
