Catholic Verse of the Day

2 Kings 9:31

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, December 9, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Peace

Peace

At Jehu coming in at the gate, and said: Can there be peace for Zambri, that hath killed his master?

2 Kings 9:31

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us 2 Kings 9:31: “At Jehu coming in at the gate, and said: Can there be peace for Zambri, that hath killed his master?”

Peace is one of the first things anxiety steals. Christ does not deny our storms; He offers a peace that can remain even while the waves are still high. 2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 2 Kings 9:31, let “At Jehu coming in at the gate, and said: Can there be peace for Zambri, that hath…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
