Catholic Verse of the Day

Matthew 6:33

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, August 19, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Prayer

Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33

Reflection for Today

Let Matthew 6:33 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Matthew 6:33. As I listen to “Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
