Forgiveness & MercySalvation

And as the king of Israel was passing by the wall, a certain woman cried out to him, saying: Save me, my lord, O king.

2 Kings 6:26

Reflection for Today

Pause with 2 Kings 6:26. Hear these words again: “And as the king of Israel was passing by the wall, a certain woman cried out to him, saying: Save me, my lord, O king.”

2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.

Today's invitation under the theme of Salvation is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 2 Kings 6:26. As I listen to “And as the king of Israel was passing by the wall, a certain woman cried out to him,…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
