Theme: Daily Scripture
“Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 Corinthians 5:7. Hear these words again: “Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed.”
1 Corinthians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through 1 Corinthians 5:7. You said, “Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
