Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Kings 5:4

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, May 30, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Peace

But now the Lord my God hath given me rest round about; and there is no adversary nor evil occurrence.

1 Kings 5:4

Reflection for Today

Let 1 Kings 5:4 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “But now the Lord my God hath given me rest round about; and there is no adversary nor evil occurrence.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 1 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 1 Kings 5:4 I hear, “But now the Lord my God hath given me rest round about; and there is no adversary…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
