Theme: Daily Scripture
“Res. The breath of our mouth, Christ the Lord, is taken in our sins: to whom we said: Under thy shadow we shall live among the Gentiles.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Lamentations 4:20. Hear these words again: “Res. The breath of our mouth, Christ the Lord, is taken in our sins: to whom we said: Under thy shadow we shall live among the Gentiles.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Lamentations, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Lamentations 4:20. As I listen to “Res. The breath of our mouth, Christ the Lord, is taken in our sins: to whom we…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
