Theme: Daily Scripture
“Spikenard and saffron, sweet cane and cinnamon, with all the trees of Libanus, myrrh and aloes with all the chief perfumes.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Song of Solomon 4:14. Hear these words again: “Spikenard and saffron, sweet cane and cinnamon, with all the trees of Libanus, myrrh and aloes with all the chief perfumes.”
Song of Solomon is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Song of Solomon 4:14 close to me. Let “Spikenard and saffron, sweet cane and cinnamon, with all the trees of Libanus, myrrh…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
