Theme: Daily Scripture
“In what place soever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, run all thither unto us: our God will fight for us.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Nehemiah 4:20: “In what place soever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, run all thither unto us: our God will fight for us.”
Nehemiah is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Nehemiah 4:20. You said, “In what place soever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, run all thither unto…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
