Theme: Faith
“And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Jonah 3:5: “And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least.”
Faith is not pretending we have no questions. It is trusting Christ enough to keep walking while the answers are still unfinished. In Jonah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
Today's invitation under the theme of Faith is simple and serious. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Jonah 3:5. You said, “And the men of Ninive believed in God: and they proclaimed a fast, and put on…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
