Catholic Verse of the Day

Amos 3:6

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Wednesday, February 17, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Peace

Peace

Shall the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, which the Lord hath not done?

Amos 3:6

Reflection for Today

Pause with Amos 3:6. Hear these words again: “Shall the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, which the Lord hath not done?”

In Amos, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. Many of us carry quiet fear into work, family, and prayer. This verse does not shame that fear. It invites us to bring it into the light of God.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Amos 3:6, let “Shall the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
