Theme: Daily Scripture
“And I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for a core of barley, and for half a core of barley.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Hosea 3:2. Hear these words again: “And I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for a core of barley, and for half a core of barley.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. In Hosea, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Hosea 3:2 I hear, “And I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for a core of barley, and…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
