Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Kings 3:2

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, January 24, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

But yet the people sacrificed in the high places: for there was no temple built to the name of the Lord until that day.

1 Kings 3:2

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us 1 Kings 3:2: “But yet the people sacrificed in the high places: for there was no temple built to the name of the Lord until that day.”

A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. 1 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep 1 Kings 3:2 close to me. Let “But yet the people sacrificed in the high places: for there was no temple built to…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
