And they did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they forgot their God, and served Baalim and Astaroth.

Judges 3:7

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Judges 3:7: “And they did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they forgot their God, and served Baalim and Astaroth.”

Judges is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Judges 3:7 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Judges 3:7 I hear, “And they did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they forgot their God, and served…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
