Today's Catholic verse of the day is Genesis 3:13: “And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she answered: The serpent deceived me, and I did eat.”
Genesis is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Genesis 3:13 I hear, “And the Lord God said to the woman: Why hast thou done this? And she answered: The…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
