Reflection for Today
Pause with 1 John 2:5. Hear these words again: “But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected. And by this we know that we are in him.”
If this verse speaks of love, it invites a question that is quietly demanding: whom am I being asked to love more concretely today? 1 John comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 1 John 2:5 I hear, “But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected.…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
