Theme: Work & Service
“For in sight and hearing he was just, dwelling among them who from day to day vexed the just soul with unjust works.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Peter 2:8. Hear these words again: “For in sight and hearing he was just, dwelling among them who from day to day vexed the just soul with unjust works.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. 2 Peter comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 2 Peter 2:8 remain. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 2 Peter 2:8. As I listen to “For in sight and hearing he was just, dwelling among them who from day to day vexed…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
