Theme: Work & Service
“Jews also, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians: we have heard them speak in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Acts 2:11. Hear these words again: “Jews also, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians: we have heard them speak in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
The Acts of the Apostles remind us that the Church is not a museum of holy memories. It is a living community moved by the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Acts 2:11 I hear, “Jews also, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians: we have heard them speak in our own…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
