Catholic Verse of the Day

Haggai 2:7

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, December 17, 2026, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Creation

For thus saith the Lord of hosts: Yet one little while, and I will move the heaven and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land.

Haggai 2:7

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Haggai 2:7: “For thus saith the Lord of hosts: Yet one little while, and I will move the heaven and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land.”

A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. In Haggai, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Haggai 2:7 I hear, “For thus saith the Lord of hosts: Yet one little while, and I will move the heaven…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
